The only thing used when installing BB90 bearings is grease. If a bearing is loose it should be replaced w/ an oversize bearing if that results in a proper fit. I can't think of an instance when it wouldn't be a warranty deal, maybe if there was a ton of corrosion? I never charged anyone for the service and parts, I ran all of them through the online warranty process and every one was approved.
The bearing was definitely loose. I was hearing/feeling a click while pedaling at times. I removed the NDS crank arm, and as I slid the DS crank arm out, the NDS bearing fell out and onto the floor. Thus the interference fit was no more. No corrosion or dirt noted.
The DS bearing was retained and I tugged on it with my fingers and it seemed fine.
