As far as the cost- we charge $40 for the bearing kit (OEM or OS spec) and $30 for the labor currently. Of course there can be secondary parts that sometimes are needed. Also the cost of doing business in much of CA is higher then many other locals so no surprise that P and/or L might be higher then here in a mid sized rust belt city. Andy
The NDS bearing fell onto the floor as I was sliding out the DR crank arm, The service did fix the clicking bottom bracket I had.
Per the receipt, the part costs $40 + $45 labor, and agree the cost of living greatly affects labor. I wasn't complaining about the cost, just threw it in as a fact.
I'm just wondering if using the same bearing and using a retaining compound was the wrong answer. The frame is 7 years old so perhaps that figures into the equation (like Trek won't repair if over x years old).
