Incorrect. 9-speed has the same cable pull as 8-speed
Dura Ace 7400 only. So theoretically you could use Sora (or whatever) 9-speed brifters, any 8-speed cassette, and a 7400 rear derailer. But why would you do that? It would be easier and make more sense to just get a 9-speed cassette and chain.
