I'm not as familiar with the Element, but you can't beat a Honda.

Between my wife and I, we put about 20-25k miles per year on our cars.
The Element is a small storage container with a slick plastic floor liner, on a CRV frame. With the rear seats out, it will carry a set of sails for a 40 footer or gear and provisions for a 2-week cruise. It's also variable AWD and has a great sound system, heat, and AC.
