I had a client a while back that lived in Fort Worth, and had a summer place in Maine. He kept some type of "classic" day sailor at his place in Maine, and only had it in the water about 3 months out of the year. Seemed like a lot of work for such a small amount of time. Plus, he only spent about three weeks of the summer in Maine. It was mostly his wife's "place" to get away.
Short season up there, but it's beautiful cruising and there's even better stuff to the north. The sailing community, however, gets a little, shall we say...stuffy, north of Cape May. Being a grubby little semitic ne'er do well, I can only take it in limited doses.
