. I spotted a mixte-framed bike leaning up against some sort of barn roof ventilator. Closer examination revealed a Nishiki branded bike. Frame code indicates a Giant manufactured frame built in May of 1984.
I have mentioned in other threads that I'm not a huge fan of mixte-framed bikes and clearly don't need one but I'm intrigued by this bicycle. Considering its age of 36+ years, it's in decent condition except for a major degree of visible rust on the chain and freewheel. I do suppose that the brake and shift cables have suffered a similar fate. There's some surface rust on a few place on the frame where the paint chipped or wore away. Fortunately, most of the components are alloy or plated. So, now on to what folks are wondering, how much? A weathered hunk of duct tape has $49 scribbled on it. I can "afford" to spend $50 on a bike but not so sure that I'd welcome the wrath of the "Fun Police"

. I could, of course, be surreptitious and sneak it into the wayward bike repository where it would go unnoticed until Spring. I guess the bottom line is, is this bike worth $50? There was no model name decal but there was a decal indicating "Nishiki 4130 Chrome Moly" on the seat tube. The FD & RD are SunTour AR with short, stem mounted SunTour levers. The brakeset is DiaCompe 500 side pulls. Alloy rims and hubs ?brand? with QR on front wheel only. The upright handlebar is alloy as is the stem. I will post a photo or two later today.
IMO any "4130 Chrome Moly" bike with a sound frame is worth $50, especially if its a name brand like this. Doe's it have a claw or hanger dropout?
All that being said I am a mixte fan so it would have come home with me.
Did you forget, pics or it didn't happen?
Make it so.
Sounds to me like the "Fun Police" needs this bike.
