The spokes are black stainless steel, so there's something on them. That's the case with nearly all Campy/Fulcrum wheels these days. I Recently sold two sets of Zondas. They worked perfectly and I've never read of spoke problems. Now I have Fulcrum racing 3 disc with tubeless. They have black spokes, but not bladed like the Zonda.

If a spoke was cracked, it would break quickly.
