To me, there's an uncanny-valley-like curve to the "should my next bike be disc brakes?" question. If you don't have a big investment in rim brake road bikes and wheels, yeah - moving to discs makes a lot of sense to me. If you have a number of good rim brake wheelsets but limited bikes to swap them among, sticking with rims is sensible. Once you have a fleet of rim brake bikes and wheels, going disc on the next makes sense to me, too - you're already well beyond that, "but these previous purchased are going to wallow in disuse" argument.
I made a mistake buying a rim brake bike, wish I’d have gone with disc, even if it meant a mechanical groupset
