Disclaimer: I'm a data geek, so please bear with me.

I'm heading to Italy in May to follow the Giro d'Italia for a week. I always ride with a heart rate monitor, and sometimes with a GPS. I normally download the data from my HRM (Polar S510) and GPS (Garmin Foretrex 101) after each ride, because the S510 can only hold detailed data for 1 ride. I don't have a laptop to take to Italy, so I was thinking about buying a handheld to use instead. Two questions:

1. Has anyone used the S510's sonic download with a handheld?

2. Is there handheld software (preferably Palm rather than Windows) for downloading HRM and GPS data? I don't need a full-blown GPS navigation capability, which I know exists, I just need to move the data from the GPS to the handheld for storage until I get home. Also, I think the S510 uses a non-standard data file format, unlike later Polar models, which could be a problem.

Anyone done anything like this? Or have a better suggestion?
