Greetings, I've posted a version of this elsewhere, in reply to an older thread, but I'm not clear on whether that gets much visibility. So apologies if I'm double-dipping:
My questions is this: Are these rims as rare as I’ve been led to believe? For better or worse, I’ve ended up with two sets.
The first have been on my 1982 Bianchi (Record 842, according to my research) for as long as I can remember. I’m the bike's original owner so I can vouch the rims are not original; I just can’t recall when I got them and under what circumstances.
The second set were a recent garage find, evidently long forgotten under the cobwebs (the plastic inner strip disintegrated in my hands when I examined them). This second set, with Campagnolo hubs, have been dusted off, lubed, tuned and fitted on to my son’s late-1980s Campione d’Italia.
We both love the look and feel of these rims, and boy, do they seem solid: In my case I don’t remember ever having to get them aligned or serviced for any reason. And, believe me, the roads here in Montreal are far from ideal.
I would welcome any information you might have about these rims. Apologies for the distorted panorama in my clumsy effort to get both bikes in the frame:
