hit the western end of the sammos with a first-timer friend that was up for the challenge. no, we didn't tackle any soul-crushing climbs like decker or deer creek.
went up mully from pch since it's still "closed" (wink-wink) to motorized traffic with posted signage. didn't see any other cyclists on the climb but had maybe a total of 6 cars
(both sides of the road-all looked like local traffic) over the last 3 miles of the climb. zero motorized traffic in the first three miles of the climb. a handful of 18-20 mph
wind gusts here and there but it was a beautiful december day up there overall. riding partner decided she wanted to descend latigo vs climbing up little sycamore and descending
yerba buena even after laying out the short/steep entry point to the latigo descent from the mully/kanan connector. super low traffic...one suv and one motorcycle passed us on
the latigo descent. not a huge day but a great day. another sammos convert...road quality overall an 8/8.5. the smiles on latigo always earned and well-deserved.
