I have tried listening to music/radio while riding. I did it for several months. I quit after a close call which I attributed either to distraction of paying attention to the music or an inability to hear well enough. I remain unsure which it actually was. There was no accident or injury involved. It was sufficient warning.

I feel as though I have a better chance at avoiding problems by not having distractions in my ear. But then again, I am also cautious enough to wear a rearview mirror, use lights and reflectors, a helmet and gloves and a reflective belt. These are my choices. With the occasional exception of young children I encounter, I take no notice, nor is it any of my concern, what others wear or how they operate their bikes unless asked. And, believe it or not, I really don't concern myself with what others think of my riding habits, equipment or garb.
