As far as discoloration, does the gray of the ti cages not fade? I think you are wrong about this one. I have 2 gun metal color alum cages on one of my bikes. 14 years old and are not faded in color at all, or gloss.

Can't say I haven't bent my alum cages a bit for better grip. Again, if it ever breaks, I buy another for $6, after another 10 years. Oh, I'm sorry, they are $7.49 now.
Yes, I do enjoy riding my bikes! 8300 miles (and 450k feet of climbing) so far this year. More than some, probably less than others though.

I enjoy riding my bikes so much that I hate stopping for a lost water bottle. And no, ti and SS do not fade.
