I think when it all comes down to it, Strava is not what I consider a training tool in any strict sense. It is a great way to track overall fitness and performance improvements over time, and be happy at accomplishments. But other than that, it is really not a great "tool" for training.

Its original purpose was so 38 year-old men could "Win" by sniping a KOM on a local 1/4 mile hill and feel like they accomplished something (since their chance at winning anything in a local Crash Four crit was likely not going to happen either). It has all the trappings of other social media platforms that can make it addicting.
