Ran into a slight problem tonight: Finally got around to installing the rear rack (black copy of the ubiquitous alloy back racks so common in the 70's) - and the mounting setup blocks the cantilever wire on the Weinmann centerpulls.

Easy enough solution, I certainly did enough of them 30 years ago: Hit the local second hand bike shop and find a nice long-arm Weinmann 500 side pull. End up running a 750 on the front where the main braking action will take place, and the 500 on the rear. It'll do well enough, I'll just have to think a little bit further down the road. To Motophoto: This is an example of a very normal problem you're going to run into, assuming you do the project. Happily, every necessary solution is out there sitting in some drawer full of second hand parts, and has been already worked out long ago. It's only up to you to find the answer and make it fit your problem.

Hopefully the NOS 60's/70's toe clips will arrive early next week (it's currently got modern ones), and all that I'll need is a 70's water bottle cage and it's finished. My original intent was to take the memory of the Schwinn Voyager I'd built for long haul (and has been out of my life for 29 years), and come up with an equivalent that went 10-20 years earlier, but was still useful today. Keep as much of the original bike as was useful (frame, drivetrain, bars & stem) and change was needed upgrading to be useful (wheels, brakes). It's been showing potential on my weekend workouts, hopefully after this weekend I can start getting serious.
