FS: 1972/3 Gitane Gran Tourisme Frame (57 ctt) w/some parts
$200 - Prefer local sale (SF Bay Area), but can also ship. Buyer pays actual shipping costs.
Based on all the information on the Forum, I'm pretty sure the date is a '72, but potentially a '73. 57 CTT Seat Tube and ~57 CTC Top Tube. It has all the signatures of the Gran Tourisme: Generator mount on fork, 531 tubes, small braze-ons on the underside of the down tube for the wires for the lights, rack mounts, and campy bits.
I picked up this Grand Tourisme (not knowing what I had found) this summer. I knew it was on the small size for me, it had a weird build, but I was hoping I could get it to work for me. After 5-6 months I decided that I'd rather have a different bike, and I have a rule of 1 in 1 out (I know that a lot of you subscribe to the N+1 philosophy, but we have 14 bikes in the Garage, so I had to put a limit on it).
See pictures for details but what we have is:
Frame: Paint has a lot of Patina, I debated a repaint, but I didn't want to paint it until I was sure it was staying.
Campy Headset (has some indexing, doesn't seem too bad, but I haven't taken it apart)
Campy Bottom bracket cups (French, no spindle, bearings)
Campy Front Derailleur
Suntour Rear Derailleur
Campy seatpost
Mavac Racer Brakes calipers (new pads)
Some assorted cable clamps
Chain (~100-200 miles)
Velocals stickers (I was going to re-paint or re-decal, so I bought some decals. I figure I should leave that option to the new owner)
I also have some 27x 1 1/4 wheels (Campy high flange French threaded hubs, off brand skewers, hookless Wienmann rims (with Mavic stickers (it was spec'd as Mavic, I assume the factory ran out Mavic wheels)) with almost brand new Gatorskins and a NOS French threaded Regina freewheel (threaded on, but never used) that I can also sell to further the build.
