Nice! I've painted a few and did the tape thing a couple of times but it was too tedious, Then I tried just painting without worrying about overspray/overpaint then scrubbed the seatposts with #000 steel wool. Worked like a charm, no scratches.
This is essentially my technique whenever paint-filling. Either use #0000 steel wool after on the high spots, or wipe off the excess with a towel slightly dampened with mineral spirits.
