...with internal routing for your cables, the housing stops are usually accomplished with some kind of cable end, that stops the housing right at the hole.

...it's not at all unusual for the rear derailleur cable to exit from the rear of the chain stay, in which case the only housing you need is a small piece from there to the derailleur. But there are many variations on this theme.
