Everyone seems to leave out the Trek 620. It is more of a touring bike (longer stays) than a large number of 520s which seem to vary between touring and sport touring/sport geometry depending on the year.

The aluminum frame Treks are also an option (1000, 1200, 1220, 1400, 1420). They are generally a more race geometry (short stays). IIRC, the models ending in 20 have a triple chain ring.
