I'm pretty sure, but not positive, you can use a "Simplex/Huret" shift cable. Here's one example Sunlite Shift Cables - Holland's Bicycles | San Diego, CA Jagwire makes one as well and probably some others. Hopefully a more knowledgeable member can confirm this.
