The previous owners of our house expanded the kitchen into what was once a one-car garage. So, now we have what I think of as bicycle parking and what my wife insists on calling "the pantry." This is where her bike and my daughters' bikes hang. The strip and hook combo came from Ace Hardware. The hooks can slide along the strip.

There are three more bikes hanging from the ceiling of the shed and one on a trainer in my bedroom.
I use the same system. Mine is branded Rubbermaid and is sold at Home Depot. This is great as you can move the spacing of the hooks very easily. Also use the trick shown on SJX426's post above, where he alternates the bikes front wheel up, rear wheel up, front wheel up, etc. The spacing can be reduced significantly as you don't have the handlebars hitting each other.
