Sounds like you need a rim and some spokes.

Depending on whether or worrying about keeping it all original or not, it may be a good time to consider converting it to the more common 590mm or even a 584 or 650B size, both sizes would give you a better selection of tires that are readily available these days. There aren't many options in the Schwinn S6 size these days.
