So you're using Ramp Mode, which is similar to a dumb trainer? If so, I'd recommend figuring out your cadence, in your gear of choice, at the target power. That's how I do all of my dumb-trainer power targeting. There's still some lag and some over-shoot as you ramp up, but it's easier and more intuitive to for me to feel out a cadence than it is for me to feel out a power output.
