Shimano Deore XT Crankset Question
I bought a great set of parts from a guy a few inches taller than me, some have worked great but others have turned out too big so I’ve swapped out. I just realized that the 10-Speed Shimano Deore XT FC-M780 (42-32-24) crankset is 175mm, which is too big for me. I’m 5’8”, and I think the crank arms have been feeling too long, so I’d like to drop down to 170mm. (It’s for a Surly Disc Trucker 2020, 52cm, for long haul touring.)
So, my question is: Do I need to get the exact same Deore XT 10-Speed, FC-M780, triple crankset? I’m not seeing many of them online in 170mm. Is there a suitable replacement that’s around XT quality but won’t break the bank? If so, is it possible to keep the current chainrings, or will it require that I buy the crankset with its own chainrings? Any help on this would be very greatly appreciated!
