The GRX hoods are arguably the best ergonomic design out there. I have Ultegra, which are a close second, and I have found zero-padding gloves (and a leather saddle) to be the most comfortable. It might also be an issue of bike fit, meaning some very minor tweak, like a shorter stem, might really be what is needed.
Thanks, but I don't think that's the issue. I've been riding many miles for over 40 years, including one ride across the USA and several other multi-week rides. I've got two custom built titanium bikes -- a road bike and a gravel bike. The bike I'm asking about was built after a Retul professional fit. Now that I qualify for Medicare, I experience hand pain on longer rides (>50 miles). The thicker gel padded gloves help but there are contact points that I think a gel wrap around the brake hoods would alleviate.
