A lot depends on what your other components are. Shifters especially. Shimano's compatibility table seems to say that if your have an FD-R3000 DR, then you must have ST or SL-R3000 shifters which supposedly won't work with an FD-3500.

Don't know why.... maybe another does.

What model and series are your shifters? Also, I noticed you said FD-3000 not FD-R3000 which are the most current. If they had an FD-3000, then is that a much older FD?
