The Bike of the Year award is based on "best value", not "best bicycle at any price".
The Specialized Roubaix was also named "Distance bike of the year".
These awards are listed in the January 2006 issue of CyclingPlus magazine.
I saw this info as well, right after buying my Roubaix Comp on Saturday. Not that I needed that to buy it but it did make me feel good about its review.
