One persons "safe distance" is another's "close shave."
Motorists often have no clue as to their actual speed and the "whosh" of wind they are creating at that speed. (yeah yeah, they see the numbers on the dashboard, but these meaning nothing to them... )
Try driving with all your windows down for a bit of perspective.
