We rarely ride tandem anymore due to my wife's vertebrae fractures and subsequent back pain. Anything near 35 miles sidelines her for a few days.
A big part of why I want a tandem is so that I can share longer rides with her, but I also understand that she does not have the same cycling goals that I do.
Adding to the difficulty is that a road tandem would likely need to be a custom - I could probably ride a 58cm CTC captain but would prefer a 62cm, and she would need absolutely no larger than a 52cm CTT. And that height difference certainly will affect visibility from the stoker position.
This though, if I could find one...I bet I could make a stronger argument
