BTW - the plumbing-solder has way too much lead to stick well. You'd want an electronics-grade solder made primarily with tin & silver.
I find it easier to solder
before trimming to length, that way I cut through solid metal without wire strands springing apart. I also use eletronics solder, with a 70 watt iron.
