An article in Guardian today about a jogger "facing off" with a black bear. Such articles suggest that people are more and more detached from nature, not the jogger, but the article itself. That such an encounter with a black bear (
Ursus Americanus) would rise to the level of a national article is strange. It would be different if was a grizzly (
Ursus arctos), then I would be questioning the joggers sanity. Perhaps such articles promote awareness of nature, which is good. Bear/animals need all the help they can get.
