Tire alternatives? There are many -- too many to list in one post. I'd probably start with some of the more common tire brands (like Continental or Schwalbe) and go from there. I think the Verve has 45-622 tires (often referred to as "700x45" or something similar). You'll can look through the city, hybrid, or touring tire areas of Continental's and Schwalbe's websites to see what they offer. If you like the idea of strong puncture protection, then consider a tire like the Continental Ride Tour or something from Schwalbe's Marathon line. If you'd rather a lighter tire that doesn't offer the super robust puncture protection, then consider something like the Continental Speed Ride or Schwalbe Little Big Ben. There are many, many quality tire brands out there, but you'll probably find something to your liking by at least starting with those two companies.
