The various axle washers that SA used back then can be arranged to best fit the wheel to the frame and to best help help keep the axle/wheel in place while riding. Sure ideal arrangements will be listed/diagramed but real manufacturing and shop assembly drift from this perfect ideal. Sometimes we fitted this and the stamped version inside the drop out, sometimes outside. Andy
