There were straight seat posts made with bumps that were meant to keep the seat from sliding down too far and distorting both seat and your arse. One of those?

Maybe someone tapped the post in upside down? Just blue skying. Maybe black.
I'd look for this elusive distortion and try to line it up with the slot in the seat tube at pinch bolt and haul at it again..
