The Roam 2 also has a 1x9 drivetrain. It uses a pretty large ring (a 40-tooth!) for a dual sport hybrid, meaning your low gear range won't be all that low. You'll have much more gear range in the 2x8-geared Escape 2.
Thanks for pointing out the Roam 2 has a 1x9. I didn't like that on the Talon I tested because of the speed limitations on a downhill. I'm going to grab the Escape 2 while I still can.
