whatever you've decided, but those are just "recommendations".
just trying to say if you had your heart set on the fat tires, it will not be a problem. people ran 2.3's on 24 and 25mm (external width) rims for years (even loading touring) before the wide rim trend even showed up. the recommendation for them is only considered the ideal, not the law
