lots of reasons. i’m fairly active, not overweight, and outwardly appear to be pretty fit. swam competitively once upon a time, did some heavy miles running at speed, but i have a heart rhythm condition which requires me to keep my heart rate low (<130) and avoid really strenuous cardio. i take antiarrythmics, beta blockers, and have an ICD. the creo is uniquely suited for me, light enough to ride like a normal bike 95% of the time and on big climbs i can turn on just enough motor assist to keep my heart rate and cardiac output low.
i love riding on scenic roads, and only/always ride from my front door, distances from 20 to 75 miles, total climbs up to 5,000 or so, through the flats around the bay and the coastal foothills. the creo seems pretty much like the perfect bike for me. i LOVE riding fast and can sustain 25 or so on a flat with the motor off and a little bit of a tailwind, 40+ on the downhills, and just kind of plod along at 8-10 on the long climbs with the motor at around 25% assist.
i also have a more upright commuter type e-bike, but it’s very heavy, doesn’t have the gearing for fast road rides, and just isn’t as fun. the aches and pains are not that big of a deal, and they seem fixable.
