And realizing that following the suggestion of one person is not the best plan, you're asking for input, and that clearly causes another problem. I hope consensus about this is clear. It would be fine to have a thread about specialized topics in the C&V umbrella. You will notice that C&V is a holistic group, and we talk about lots of topics, including repair and rides, not just old bikes.
And workarounds, modifications, hacks, kludges, retrofits, upgrades, overhauls and so many things that come up out of the swamp, thin air and our very own skewed sense of "how this/these/those things should be done." very often with great results, but as it is holistic and organic, we need the swirling stew of it all to get there, the more direct input right here and now is key to the whole thing, IMO.
