Looks to be circa 1987-1989 with Suntour XC-9000. The chain stay mounted Powercams (and U-brakes) were a fad during this period. Being mounted closer to the BB on the stiffer chain stay resulted in more braking owner but was also resulted in difficult set-up and mud build-up. Manufacturers eventually realized they could beef up the seat stays with oversize diameters and went back to cantilevers. Bronze anodizing was also popular in the late 1980s.
Thanks as always, T-Mar. Sounds like you're not a huge fan of this bike? Am I better off sticking with my 1992 Trek 930 (which I like a lot)?
