I dont think its an idiot question... there is an issue with triathletes that I still cant understand so well... they use the best and lighter bikes, super aerodinamical positions that in my oppinion arent comfortable not even fast.. I mean... ok they have a like a 90 degress bike that do not make then go fast anyways... I mean if it was really effective that a triathlon bike is super duper fast why road racers do better times anyways in a race sometimes after be in the bike for 3 hours, then somebody go solo for 1 more hour and goes faster than a triathlete anyways and using a conventional road bike, regular handlebars... maybe using 250 grams tubulars....
I did track and road racing like for 15 years... I went to 3 panamerican games... and untill now I havent seen a single triathlete able to match the speed, style and comfort riding of a road racer.. Im not racing nomore since 15 years ago and im quite overwheight but when sometimes I ride here and there.. I and see this guys going fast? i mean.. they pass me.. I follow them like for 30 mins because Im out of trining but I dont know... to a super duper road racer I woulnd be able to match his power for more than 5 or 10 mins... so I really wonder why they use all that C R A P if somebody using the regular equipment and the regular position will do the same and better...??
Dunno... I dont think the bike or the equipment will do something or **** it would be adopted in road racing since years ago... I know I know... the UCI reglaments but anyways... the road races can do the same and better Isnt time for triathletes to learn a little bit more of classic road racing? Sometimes I go to stores and the LBS is always trying to sell somthing to them... a bike a better seat... anything... actually like a thought... Dont u guys think that lance armstrong would have win the tour the france even in a wheelchair? I mean a good bike will do some differences but if u give the best bike to the worst cyclist it wont do anydifference, at the opposite Im quite sure that armstrong riding any good bike would have won the tour anyways.
Comming back to the point now... for triatlon u road racing geometry will do fine.. why spend more money in crap that makes u think that u r going faster.. after all... after 6 months of trining people have to improve anyways... so after 6 or 3 months of training the guy will go faster (some dont)...
TT geometry isnt even similar to tri position... gezz... wonder untill when companies will continue selling the "ultimate tri device" when not even road racer use them. The catch? who knows... isnt my money so

hehehe
