bike path gap compared to Houston, Austin, San Antonio and - gasp - Ft. Worth.

The city has approved (but I don't believe funded - yet) the 'loop':

The plan is to connect the SoPac Trail/Sante Fe Trail/White Rock Creek Trail to the AT&T Trail/Trinity Forest Trail via a new 'Trinity Forest Spine Trail', and connect the Katy Trail to the Strand Trail with
a many intersection sidewalk they're going to call a bike path via the new High Line Connector Trail.
