Follow up with yesterday’s ride results...
I rode with the same group, on exactly the same route, same time of day, and similar average temperature (93 F, just 2 degrees cooler than last week).
I was happy to see my moving average speed increased by .5 MPH, nearly 3% faster. I attribute it to better preparation. I hydrated better all afternoon and also ate better. And I took an insulated water bottle so my drink would stay cool longer. I find it hard to drink when the water is warm, just makes me want to puke.
I feel like I was pushing close to my max for nearly an hour. I’ve never done an FTP test and don’t know how many Watts I can put out, for an instant, a minute, or 5 minutes, let alone an hour. But I gave a solid, consistent effort over nearly the entire ride.
Once again I was really spent. I slept like the dead, and today I feel
great!
