Yeah, I tried gradual pressurization too. Basically the tires will get to where the seat line is visible around about 90% of the rim, but there's always one spot where the seat line doesn't show (not the same spot each attempt..) and there'll be a slight wobble to the tire.

I don't think the tubes blowing is because they're getting pinched by the bead- it always seems to be where the tube contacts the rim tape. It also only has happened when I've done a fast inflation with a compressor. When I've checked the pressure after inflating with the compressor (in the minute or so before it suddenly blows...) I don't think it's ever been above 75psi- could maybe just be that the compressor inflates too fast?

I just did 25mi on the bike and now notice the front tire seems about 99% seated- just one little spot where the seat line isn't as visible as everywhere else, so maybe I'll just keep riding and vary the pressure on the rear and see if it eventually seats.

Some updated rims would be nice. Maybe I'll learn how to build wheels this winter...!
