chips in/on outside of carbon wheels

Hi. I have some stone chips on the outside of my carbon wheels. The chips range in size from small stone sized chips to maybe the size of a nickle or a dime. I contacted the manufacturer of the wheels and they were extremely helpful. I was told the carbon underneath is fine, and the chips I am seeing is a protectant on the outside of the carbon.

One suggestion was to use clear nail polish to seal up the chips. Doing so though will produce shiny spots on the wheel. The manufacturer also said I could just leave the chips as they are. Which is what I have done.

Now I'm starting to wonder if something else could be done to cover up the chips. Maybe painting on some enamel model paint? Or going back to the original suggestion of using clear nail polish.

Anyone else run in to this issue? If so, what did you do to solve the problem? I'll see about posting photos later if that helps explain what I am seeing.

Thank you.
