Bikes: heh, like that info would fit here...

cr and sp binder bolts are a horrible place to save weight. Alloy (aluminum. I hate that they use the word alloy...steel is a ****ing alloy) bolts are generally harder to tighten, less tolerant of over-tightening, easier to strip, and more likely to work themselves loose. I just had to drill out 3/5 alloy bolts because the bolts stripped (with proper tool and correct use.) On other bikes I've had to loctite alloy bolts to keep them from coming loose and deafening me with the creaking. YEMV.
