That is EXACTLY what I had in the back of my pickup truck for many years. I had two of them, in fact, side-by-side. Note that they are now also available for thru-axle forks.

I bolted mine directly to the truck bed -- I just drilled right through the sheet metal. But for a less-permanent installation, dedhed has a great idea.
