It is relatively easy to do a no destination trip in areas where there is water food and shelter to be had with a credit card. It's also easy in non arid areas where there is a lot of public land to find camping. It's no where near as easy in arid lands where water and food may be scarce and known routes are needed through canyonlands. Its also tough in rural areas of small plot private farm land and few hotels. You end up knocking on doors. It works and most of the time you can pitch a tent but it is more stressful.
