You think this is a big deal, wait until they starting phasing out mechanical shifting down the range, like 105, then Tiagra, then Sora, etc., etc. Eventually only Tourney will be non-electronic.
I have predicted in the past the electronic shifting will hit cheapy depart store bikes sooner than we think, because the labor to just put a wireless deraillers and shifters will be that much less expensive than dealing with cables
