anga- I think your claim of rings usually being on a 5mm center-center dimension is off. Both in my experience and the imaged chart's specs the typical c-c is more like 8mm. Additionally at one time in the 1990s Shimano had their MtB cranks using a slightly wider c-c then their road stuff. Andy
