The implications are that you have to make the frame heavier or lose some stiffness, or a bit of both. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but you are not going to see it in frames where weight or stiffness are the highest priorities. With the Domane I can see how the integrated storage might be worth the small compromise, but I don't think we will see this kind of feature appearing on lighter frames. Why does the Domane need such a huge downtube anyway? Well I guess partly because it has a huge hole in the middle of it!
